Becoming a Big Boy

Jonah is definitely becoming a big boy and putting aside his babyish ways, at least to some extent. Here's what he said to me this morning, a time when he usually likes to cuddle with Mom-Mom:

Jonah (clutching the teddy bear he slept with for the first time the night before): Cuddle teddy. Mom-Mom open door (the door was closed up to this point, so I opened the door). Mom-Mom go!

At this point, I burst into laughter and just said, "OK, I'm going. I'll see you later." So I left him alone with his teddy for a few minutes then went back in to take him down for breakfast. It was pretty funny.

Jonah can also imitate Josh's snoring, which is hysterical.

And you know for certain that your baby is growing up when he spontaneouly says to a rock that he's holding (Jonah will pick up rocks anytime he's outside - I think we have a future geologist on our hands) "I love you, rock" (actually, in Jonah speak, it comes out as "I ub you, gock"). It takes some effort at times to get him to tell me or Daddy that he loves us, but the love he had for this rock was given without any prompting. It was sad and funny all at the same time.

Sounds SOOOO familiar! "Wuv you, kitten!"

Jay's now convinced there are monsters in his closet. Nice blue monsters, in fact, but he also let us know he was 'cared. And cried everytime we sent him to bed tonight, which was a lot. I don't know if he just got worn out, or if it was sending Junior Asparagus up with him that did the trick, but he did, eventually, go to sleep. The teddy bear may have been a very strategic move!
