A House Is Chosen

Here is the house that Josh and I have decided to try placing a bid on. It needs a bit of work, mostly cosmetic, but we think it will suit our purposes for a while. Wish us luck!

And Illness Comes Full Circle

Well, I guess I couldn't really expect Jonah to not get sick at some point. After all, since Josh and I spent most of January with one or both of us sick, Jonah was bound to get something sometime. And he has.

After he came down with a fever on Wenesday night, we took him to the pediatrician's office on Thursday morning where he was diagnosed with an ear infection. We've been giving him antibiotics ever since along with occasional doses of infant Motrin to deal with the fever, which he just finally kicked last night. He is currently fever-free, but we have to continue with the antibioitcs through its ten-day course to make sure the infection goes away.

As much as I love having Jonah cuddle with me, it's actually pretty sad to have him be so lethargic and clingy when he doesn't feel well. It's much more reassuring to have him feeling playful with the occasional move over to me just to check in before going on with whatever he was doing, so here's hoping that he's on the mend.

Beware of Little Boys

It's bad enough that I can't ever seem to go to the bathroom alone anymore, but it's another thing entirely when my little offspring decided that it would be fun to drop his toy into the toilet where I had just finished relieving my bladder. It only added to the excitement when he decided that while I'm cleaning his toy it would be a great opportunity to unwind half of the toilet paper roll.

I'm sure this in only the beginning.

Signs of Early Potty Training Readiness?

1) Jonah maintains a dry diaper during the night despite a fair amount of liquid intake.

2) He likes to play with the toilet flusher when he's in the bathroom.

3) He also seems to like the toilet paper.

4) The other night when I left a little naked Jonah for ten seconds to put his towel in the bathroom and set his plastic tub in the big tub, I came back to find that he had pulled himself up using the diaper pail and decided that was a good place to relieve himself, as if he somehow knew that was where his pee was supposed to go.

Long Overdue Tag Response

Sorry, Christina, for taking so long!

1) Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.
”….turned it once round, and nowwe must wait until he has quite…..” from The Golden Key, one of many stories in Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales.

2) Stretch your left arm out as far as you can and see what you touch.
Our laser printer.

3) What is the last thing you watched on TV?
A few minutes of a re-run of Everybody Loves Raymond.

4) Without looking, guess what time it is.
2:30 pm

5) Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?
2:32 pm

6) With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
The dryer downstairs.

7) When did you last step outside?
Yesterday when I was on my way home from work.

8) Before you started this survey, what did you look at?
Most of my blogroll.

9) What are you wearing?
Jeans, a gray shirt, white socks, my wedding and engagement rings, a ring Josh bought for me for Valentine’s Day last year, and my little diamond stud earrings.

10) Did you dream last night?
I think so, but I don’t remember a thing.

11) When did you last laugh?
Earlier today – my little guy makes me laugh quite a lot!

12) What is on the walls of the room you are in?
My and Josh’s diplomas and other certificates and awards, a blanket of Jonah’s that we turned into a wall hanging, a cross, two Biblical pictures, and an embroidery wall haning made for Jonah by his Nana.

13) Seen anything weird lately?
Yeah, my husband! Just kidding, dear!

14) What do you think of this quiz?
It has highs and lows (stealing Christina’s answer!).

15) What is the last movie you saw?
I really can’t recall, but I think it might have been the third Harry Potter movie.

16) If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?
A house with a turret and a library and a lovely fireplace for me and my family, a brick in-city house with a little garden and an enormous library for Christina, an old-fashioned one-storey for Lenise, a newer one-storey for my parents, whatever new car Josh would like, a car with a chauffeur for me…..

17) Tell me something about you that I don't know.
I love sappy happy stuff.

18) If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?
Um, get rid of evil in myself and others? (Another stolen answer from Christina – it’s a good one!)

19) Do you like to dance?
Yes, but I don’t get to do it often.

20) George Bush?
Which one?

21) Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?
I used to like the idea of using Carolyn Michelle, until I married someone who has an ex-girlfriend named Michelle and a last name that begins with “C” (I don’t care for alliterative names). Now I like Eleanor Le or Anna Le.

22) Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?
Well, since he’s already here, I guess it’ll have to be Jonah Merritt!

23) Would you ever consider living abroad?
Absolutely, especially in London.

24) What do you want God to say to you when you reach the pearly gates?
"Welcome home.”
