A Shining Example
"Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word."
The above is Mary's response to the angel Gabriel when she was told that she would bear a holy child even though she had had no relations with a man. One can only imagine how disconcerting it must have been to be confronted with such news, and yet she willingly and faithfully puts herself in God's hands and accepts His will. We may not all be visited by angels of God who will tell us specifcally what God's will for our lives will be, but I still believe that Mary's response is a wonderful example of how we should also place ourselves in His hands and accept His will for us even if we do not always understand why certain things happen.

Indeed, a wonderful example, since it's often very difficult to do! Our culture doesn't like to admit that God knows more than we do- that's one very freeing difference about Christianity, if you ask me.
