Unexpected Milestone

Yesterday evening, Jonah peed standing up for the first time.

Josh and I were getting the little guy ready for his bath. He was undressed, and Josh was holding him in a standing postion on the floor in front of him, just talking to him and making goofy faces to keeep him entertained for a few minutes. Jonah decides that this is an opportune time to relieve his little bladder and promptly lets out a small stream. He not only hit the floor, but he also strategically managed to hit Josh in the pants in a place that made it look like Josh had wet himself!

We all had a good laugh! :)

Recovery, The Sequel

Well, I seem to finally be on the mend from my renewed bout of clostridium difficile. I've been taking a new medication and am almost through with the prescribed dosage with no more episodes of bad things happening. Knock on wood, I'll remain healthy for the remainder of the winter!

Aside from constipation, Jonah is the only one in the household (other than the cats) who has remained healthy this winter. I attribute this remarkable feat to the power of breastmilk. Hm, come to think of it, maybe that's been part of the problem for me - all of my body's defenses are being passed to Jonah, leaving nothing for me to fight off illness! :)

No sooner is Jonah crawling then he's attempting to climb the stairs. He succeeded in climbing this first one about three minutes after this picture was taken. Posted by Picasa

And Now a Word From Jonah

Anyone who can translate that is a genius!

The Nicest Way to Wake Up In the Morning.....

......is for your eight-and-a-half-month-old , who has been sleeping next to you for the last few hours, to roll over, lay his head on your chest, and give you one of his very sweet smiles. Ah, if only every morning could start out that way!

And Now the REAL Fun Begins

Jonah began crawling on the evening of Sunday, January 8! We are very proud of his accomplishment and scared to contemplate all the babyproofing we are now going to have to stop putting off! :)

Feeling Somewhat Human Again

I think I am finally on the upswing from having numerous health issues that have kept me from being my normally active self. That's why I haven't posted anything in some time; the time that I would have usually spent doing things like check email or other things has been spent resting.

It started out as a sinus infection, a repeat of what I had in November, and I was given a prescription for amoxicillin to take care of the problem. Well, the cure for the sinus infection turned out to be the cause of my next issue, clostridium difficile, which made it necessary for me to remain near a bathroom for several days. The diarrhea caused by the clostridium difficile seems to have cleared up on its own now, but I lost something between two and four pounds in as many days, so I am in a somewhat weakened state. I need to start eating more again, but that would actually necessitate regaining my full appetite, which I am slowly doing, but it's taking time.

In any case, I'm mending, but please pray that the clostridium difficile doesn't cause me any more problems.

I plan to post more picitures soon, too. I was going to do so with this posting, but, as luck would have it, the camera's battery gave out as I was trying to transfer to pictures to the computer, so that's going to have to wait until the battery is recharged. Sorry, Nana - I know you want to see more pictures of your grandbaby!
